Our Vision

Better decisions require more than better data.

Technical excellence is only one part of successful project delivery. Every project brings together developers, designers, contractors, regulators, insurers, investors, statutory authorities and local stakeholders, each with different objectives, responsibilities and perspectives.

  • Developers seek programme certainty and commercial confidence.
  • Engineers require dependable technical evidence.
  • Contractors need practical solutions that can be implemented safely and efficiently.
  • Regulators expect compliance with legislation and recognised good practice.
  • Investors seek assurance that risks have been understood and managed proportionately.

Each stakeholder views project risk differently, our role at Dolomite is to bridge these perspectives to provide a holistic solution.

We provide independent technical advice that aligns engineering reality with commercial objectives, operational delivery and stakeholder expectations. By understanding the wider project environment, we help build consensus, reduce uncertainty and support decisions that stand up to technical, commercial and regulatory scrutiny.

Confidence through independent thinking

Every engineering decision exists within a wider regulatory and governance framework. Health and safety legislation, environmental regulation, planning conditions, marine licensing, defence guidance, international standards and industry best practice all influence how projects are delivered.

We believe compliance should never be viewed as a constraint. Instead, it should provide confidence that decisions are robust, defensible and aligned with recognised good practice.

Our specialists understand not only the technical challenges associated with ground risk, but also the regulatory expectations of clients, authorities, insurers and independent reviewers. By integrating governance into project planning from the outset, we help reduce programme risk, improve stakeholder confidence and ensure projects remain both technically robust and demonstrably compliant.

Every discipline within Dolomite follows the same structured methodology. Not because every project is identical, but because successful decision-making follows a consistent process.

This four-stage methodology is applied consistently across every discipline and is supported by an integrated technical hub providing

governance, digital capability, quality assurance and independent technical authority.

Characterise & Risk Assess
We establish a comprehensive understanding of the project environment through historical research, technical assessment, survey interpretation and engineering analysis. Understanding always comes first.

Client Risk Management Plan
Working collaboratively with our clients, we develop practical governance arrangements, mitigation strategies, project controls and decision pathways aligned with technical, commercial and regulatory objectives. Understanding becomes strategy.

Risk Management Execution
We provide technical leadership throughout surveys, investigations, construction and specialist interventions, ensuring decisions remain evidence-based as new information emerges. Strategy becomes delivery.

Assurance & Support
We provide independent assurance throughout the project lifecycle through technical reviews, stakeholder engagement, quality management, ALARP documentation, regulatory liaison and ongoing project support. Delivery becomes confidence.

Our Foundations

Dolomite is the culmination of what I have learned throughout my career - academically, commercially and through delivering complex projects around the world.

That experience has shown me that the best project outcomes rarely come from looking at technical disciplines in isolation. Geoscience, ground risk, UXO and engineering are intrinsically connected. When combined with an understanding of stakeholder needs and the regulatory environment, they provide something far more valuable: the insight and confidence to make better decisions.

I founded Dolomite to bring these disciplines together and create an independent consultancy focused on the needs of the project, not simply the delivery of individual services.

Just as importantly, I wanted to create an environment for likeminded professionals. Our culture is centred on committed specialists who genuinely care about what they do, support one another and take responsibility for the quality of their advice.

For me, Dolomite brings those principles together: exceptional people, integrated expertise and a shared commitment to better project delivery.
